Queen Anne Seattle

Queen Anne, known to be a neighborhood and topographical feature northwest of downtown Seattle, Washington, United States. The upscale area is located on the namesake hill, which is Seattle’s highest named peak at 456 feet (139 meters). Queen Anne has a population of around 28,000 people and occupies an area of 7.3 square kilometers (2.8 square miles). It is bounded on the south by Belltown, on the east by Lake Union, on the north by the Lake Washington Ship Canal, and on the west by Interbay.

The hill became a preferred building site for the city’s early economic and cultural elite. It gets its name from the architectural style that many of the first houses that were built.

Community Services

The core business district’s spine is a long 800 m section of West Galer Streets and West McGraw along Queen Anne Avenue North. The Greater Queen Anne Region of Commerce is a group of business executives from the area. Between June and October, Queen Anne offers a weekly farmers’ market.

On a 43-acre (17-hectare) campus on the north slope of Queen Anne, a private university known as Seattle Pacific University, was established in 1891 by the famous Free Methodist Church of North America. It has 4000 graduate and undergraduate students.

Library

The Seattle Public Library’s branch is constructed in a 1914 building created by the famous Andrew Carnegie and constructed in the beautiful Tudor Revival architectural style. The building, which was rebuilt in early 2007, is on the National Register of Historic Places and is designated as a Seattle landmark by the Preservation Landmark’s Board.

The 7th congressional district and the 36th legislative district in Washington include Queen Anne Hill and the other regions. Pramila Jayapal represents Queen Anne citizens in the United States House of Representatives, Reuven Carlyle and Mary Lou Dickerson represent Queen Anne in the Washington House of Representatives, Jeanne Kohl-Welles represents Queen Anne in the Washington State Senate, and Larry Phillips represents Queen Anne on the County Council.
