It’s officially Harvest Season! It’s the time for pumpkin carving, corn maze adventures and buying bags and bags of candy for the neighbor kids who will come knocking on your door Halloween night.
Halloween always brings back so many fun memories for me, especially those of when I was a kid. We didn’t have a lot of money back then so our costumes were usually a hodgepodge of whatever we could find in our parent’s closet. One year in particular stands out in my mind; my parents had volunteered to sell raffle tickets for the PTA at our school carnival, but my mom got sick that morning. My dad, ever the comedian, decided that he would dress up as my mom so that both of our parents would be represented at the carnival. I don’t know who made the call that my dad and I would wear the same blue eye shadow that night, but I’m sure glad I have a Polaroid picture as evidence (see below).
Years later, my kids now raid my closet for costume ideas as October 31st draws nearer. Do you and your family still dress up for Halloween? What was your favorite costume? Guardian wants to know! Tell us on Facebook!
P.S. Check out the group in the photo above! A Hippy (me), my Mom (my dad), and a Monster (my brother). What a trio!
One Year Later Guardian Looks Back on Employee Appreciation Harvest Festival
At Guardian Roofing, we have two major points of pride; our quality of work and the team who supports that work. We could not have one without the other. To celebrate our AMAZING team and their families for all their hard work and sacrifice, every year Guardian puts on an a event as a thank you. In years past we’ve thrown big barbecues, game days, and company breakfasts. Last year we went all out and threw a HUGE Harvest Festival for our team, their families, and all our local vendors.
We had camels rides, face and pumpkin painting, a bounce house and of course, lots and lots of food. It was so rewarding to see our team bring their families (most of the children dressed in their Halloween costumes) and enjoy a day full of food, fun, and community.
The original meaning of harvest is to gather up one’s bounty and on this particular day, Guardian was able to gather all of our team together in one place to celebrate. It truly was a Harvest Festival!
